Student Success Assessment and Evaluation

Abstract:

Throughout Academic Year 2024/2025, a volunteer group of academic advisers from a large R1 university collected assessment data about their students’ demonstrated understanding of, and students’ confidence in, their understanding of General Education requirements for their degrees. In this presentation we will review the team, timeline, and tasks that brought this project to fruition. Through guided activities during the presentation, attendees will brainstorm their own advising student learning outcomes, identify appropriate assessment partners, and outline potential assessment methodologies. Spoiler alert: students felt most confident about their understanding of General Education requirements when they reviewed their entire What-if Report (Degree Audit), and not just parts of it, during appointments with their advisers.
