News:
Jungle Tiger Challenge

Now is a time of year when you might come up against some academic challenges. As humans, we’re wired to seek out safety, but we learn best when we push a little beyond our comfort zone. If one tiger lived in a zoo and one tiger lived in a jungle, which tiger would learn more? The jungle tiger! Outside of the safety of the zoo, the jungle tiger is forced to grow by living in a more challenging environment. External stress (like hunting for food, studying for an exam, or registering for a tough course) might make you want to seek a safer, more predictable option. The best learners know that, even with the possibility of making mistakes, these situations can be great opportunities for growth. No one can be a jungle tiger all the time, but some risks can take your learning to the next level. Your academic adviser can help you think through these challenges and which are worth facing.

Late Drop Deadline on November 11

You should consult with an academic adviser if you’re considering late dropping a course to fully consider the ramifications for your degree progress, financial arrangements, and potential opportunities. The Late-Drop Checklist can help you think through the potential consequences of dropping a course prior to your advising conversation. Be sure to read up on late drop policies.

Resource Spotlight:
The Lion's Pantry
Lion's Pantry logo

The Lion’s Pantry was created to address food insecurity at Penn State and is available to students with a valid Penn State ID. All campuses have food pantries on campus or in the community. If you don't live near campus, the organization Feeding Pennsylvania has a search tool for food banks in other parts of the Commonwealth.

If you need help with basic needs (e.g., food, housing, clothing, household items) or aren't sure about your needs, reach out to one of the many resources on campus or in the community.
