Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 8, is Election Day! Voting in local, state, and national elections is one of the most important duties of an engaged citizen. Here are some quick tips for voting-eligible Penn State students making a plan to get to the polls tomorrow:
- How do I plan around my classes? Make sure to account for wait times when making a plan to vote. If you think you may miss class or run late, contact your instructor in advance to let them know. (If you need help writing an email to your instructor, check out these email etiquette tips!)
- When can I vote? All polling locations in Pennsylvania are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. If you're in line by 8:00 p.m., you have the right to vote!
- How do I find my polling location? If you live on campus at University Park, vote in the HUB. If you live off campus or at another Penn State campus, you can double check your registration status and polling location through your local election authority or the PA Voter Services website (for Pennsylvania voters).
- What do I need to bring to the polls? Those voting for the first time in their precinct must show ID. The ID can be a photo or non-photo ID. This is the only time ID is required. You can find more details about acceptable types of ID in the PSU Votes FAQs.
- Where can I find more information about voting and what's on the ballot? The PSU Votes webpage (psuvotes.psu.edu) is a great resource for any questions you might have about voting and registration.
Your voice and ideas matter, and we hope you'll bring them to the polls on Election Day.
