Thinking About Summer Courses?

Are you looking to get ahead or stay on track with your studies this summer? Taking summer courses is a great way to remain academically productive. Penn State offers a wide variety of courses across three summer sessions – Maymester, Summer Session I, and Summer Session II. Students can enroll in courses at any Penn State campus during the summer, including World Campus. Taking a course at your local campus could also be an option. Talk with your adviser to start planning your summer today!

How Do I Know When to Schedule?

Now is a great time to ask yourself that question. DUS students will schedule for fall in mid-April with the exception of priority (early) registration for some (veteransathletesSchreyer Scholars, and students with disabilities).

How to determine your registration date:

1) Typically students with more credits register first; registration dates are determined by adding your total credits earned to the credits on your current schedule.

2) There are two ways to look up your date to register: checking the Registration Timetable and looking at your LionPATH Student Center for Enrollment Dates.

3) You can begin enrolling in classes at 12:00 a.m. on your day to schedule.

Make sure you schedule an appointment with your adviser to plan for next semester and beyond. Preparation is the key to success!

Preparing for the Career Fair

Preparing to attend the Career Fair for the first time can be overwhelming. With a large number of employers expected to attend Virtual Spring Career Days (March 3 and 4) this year, it is important to do your research on what to expect, prepare your resume, and strategize for success by targeting specific organizations of interest. Penn State Career Services is a great resource for taking on the Career Fair with confidence. They offer career counselingprep workshops, volunteer opportunities, and more. Check out your campus career services office to take advantage of similar programs and opportunities for support. Students from all campuses and colleges are welcome to attend!

Undergraduate Research

All Campuses

Interested in doing undergraduate research but not sure where to start? Students looking to learn more about how to become involved in research as undergraduates are encouraged to attend workshops organized by University Libraries and Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring.

The workshops cover everything undergraduate students need to know, including defining research and discovery opportunities, using research ethics and emotional intelligence, designing an effective research poster, and preparing to present at the Undergraduate Exhibition.

Research opportunities are available for undergraduates in all fields of study. While inquiry in the social sciences may look different from the arts, which looks different from engineering, the process of discovery and asking questions is similar across the disciplines. Previous experience with research is not required to participate in the workshops.

For a full list of research and fellowship opportunities, visit the Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring website.
