The Center for Collegiate Mental Health: Updated Trends, the Evolving Landscape of Student Needs, and the Role of Mental Health in Student Success
The Center for Collegiate Mental Health (CCMH) at Penn State University is an international research center whose mission is to bridge the gap between science and practice in college counseling centers. In the current program, the mission and scope of CCMH will be described. The most updated trends, as well as an overview of the shifting landscape of collegiate mental health over the past decade, will be presented. Next, a review of recent research on the relationships between discrimination, financial insecurity, and psychological distress will be discussed, including the indications for services offered at centers. Finally, preliminary findings related to mental health and short/long-term academic outcomes will be provided coupled with the implications for future directions.
Presented by Dr. Brett Scofield, executive director, The Center for Collegiate Mental Health and associate director, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services
