How do you support diversity, equity and/or inclusion at Penn State or/and within your local community?
First and foremost my goal is to be open-minded and willing to hear dissenting opinions and viewpoints of others which will foster a stronger community instead of having an echo chamber. I believe all viewpoints should be heard and that everyone should feel like they can contribute and feel like they belong. Being a second-generation Asian American has taught me that sometimes it can be hard to fit in or feel like you belong, but sometimes it just takes one person to make you feel wanted or part of a community and that is what I wish to achieve; to be that person that makes people feel that they belong.
I intend to join more clubs throughout the years to strengthen the Asian American community here at Penn State along with aiding other clubs that strive to aid the minority community and to give them a platform and a voice. In my local community, I volunteer with local groups that involves Asian activism and stopping Asian hate and racism towards Asian Americans.
