Individual advising appointments

Individual advising appointments are tailored to a student’s needs and questions.  Common topics discussed in individual appointments include but are not limited to:

  • Discussing your interest in law school.
  • Deciding whether law school is the best fit to reach your goals.
  • Understanding the impact of your LSAT or GRE score and academic record (including GPA) on the likelihood of your admission to law school.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on draft documents for submission with law school applications including personal statements, addenda and résumés.
  • Selecting a list of schools, or refining your list of law schools for application based on your criteria for evaluating schools and each schools’ past admissions criteria.
  • Understanding law school financing and comparing offers from multiple law schools.

Please schedule only one appointment at a time with the Pre-Law Adviser.  If you have an urgent issue prior to your next scheduled appointment, please reach out via phone or email (see contact info below).

If you are a first- or second-year student at University Park, you must first attend a Pre-Law Orientation Session before scheduling an individual appointment with the Pre-Law Adviser. To register for a Pre-Law Orientation Session, click above.

If you have already attended a Pre-Law Orientation Session, we recommend attending an Applying to Law School Session before scheduling an individual appointment with an adviser but if you have urgent questions, you can skip this step and schedule an individual appointment with the Pre-Law Adviser.

We recommend that you attend an Applying to Law School Session before you schedule an individual appointment with the Pre-Law Adviser but it is not required. To register for an Applying to Law School session please click above.

The Applying to Law School Session is designed for juniors and seniors who have decided to apply for law school and are in the process. These sessions will help you make the most of your individual pre-law advising appointment.

If you have urgent questions, you can make an individual advising appointment with the Pre-law Adviser at any time, regardless of whether you have attended a small group information session first.
