Keywords:

Abstract:

Advisers helping students navigate academic recovery after a poor semester noticed that the instituted recovery process did not serve all students; they determined that to successfully move from the Academic Warning status to Good Standing status, students needed more opportunities for engagement with advisers. To better align with current research and institutional best practices, the advisers revised the academic recovery process goals and objectives to improve student cGPAs and successful degree progression. Through surveys, interviews, and literature reviews, the advisers proposed and implemented several changes to the college’s academic recovery process. This session will provide an overview of the original recovery process, the specifics of the proposed changes, the examined literature, a description of the revised process, and a look at some of the initial collected data on the effectiveness of the newly revised process.
