FERPA: What Advisers Need to Know (and what can happen when they don't)

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The Confidentiality/FERPA link on the Registrar's home page provides details on how this law protects Penn State students. Robert Kubat, University registrar, and David Dulabon, associate general counsel in the Office of General Counsel, will share their knowledge, provide resources, discuss advising best practices, and answer your FERPA questions.

The Path to LionPATH: Advising Updates

ALEKS: What Have We Learned about Placement, Remediation, and Performance? *

Get a statistical overview of the fall 2014 semester, including late drops, EPRs, and final grades. What might we learn from these numbers? Hear from those looking at the data and working on future plans: Tanya Furman, associate vice president and associate dean for Undergraduate Education; Janet Schulenberg, associate director of technology and curriculum for the Division of Undergraduate Studies; and Andrew Watters, analysis and planning consultant for the Office of Undergraduate Education. Join in the discussion by sharing the impact that ALEKS has had on your work.
