Tyler
Hello, everyone! My name is Tyler. I was born and raised in Jeannette, which is about forty minutes east of Pittsburgh (GO PENS!). After graduating from Hempfield Area High School, I decided to follow in the footsteps of my dad and attend Penn State. Before my freshman year, I was torn between majoring in Engineering and Actuarial Science, so I chose to enroll in DUS. In doing so, I was able to explore both of these majors before committing to one, while still taking classes that count toward my Penn State degree. By the end of my first year, after making the most of the outstanding advising and other helpful resources provided by DUS, I decided to pursue Actuarial Science in the Smeal College of Business.
Here at Penn State, I'm also involved in several extracurricular activities. I am a member of the Entertainment Committee of the Student Programming Association, which organizes a variety of fun events and activities for the student body. I am also a member of ATLAS THON, which is the largest independent fundraising organization for THON. Lastly, I am a part of the DUS Leadership Council, which aims to unite DUS students and advisors and make the transition from high school to college easier for first-year students, all while making us better leaders in the process. In my spare time, I play intramural basketball and floor hockey and belong to Penn State's snowboard club, too.
