My name is Ryan, and I am from Allentown, PA. I graduated from Penn State in May 2012 and am currently pursuing a J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C.

When I got to Penn State, I was certain that I wanted to work for NASA as an aerospace engineer. However, I quickly learned that appreciating something and wanting to be a part of something were two completely separate ideas. An engineering adviser suggested I meet with a DUS adviser in October of my freshman year. The next semester, I took my first microeconomics class and knew that I was going to major in economics, because I loved what I was learningit was actually exciting for me to go to class every day! That was a big change from my first semester. In addition, I enrolled in a business law class and a political science class and loved both of those as well. Over time, as my worldview began to develop through experiences inside and outside the classroom, I knew that I wanted to become an attorney. After a lot of hard work, and a lot of studying, I ended up in D.C., which I could not be more thrilled about.

My message to DUS students: Find your interests and chase after them, dont ever sell yourself short, and take advantage of every opportunity presented to you at this fantastic school.
