What Is In Your Advising Toolbox?
Academic advisers tend to reach into their toolboxes and pull out favorite advising tools to help students explore majors, navigate policies, and plan/experience fulfilling college experiences. Are you in favor of this practice, or do you feel advisers in your unit should adopt a more standardized approach?
Regardless of your stance, what tried–and–true tools, strategies, or programs do you feel have been especially effective in your work with students? Would you recommend any (in either their current or customized form) to advising colleagues at other institutions?
