Arts and Architecture Minors with Entry-to-Minor Considerations
Dance (DANCE)
This minor is designed for the serious dance student who wishes to continue his/her training in college. Entrance into DANCE is through audition. There are no makeup auditions. No videos or private auditions are allowed. To be eligible, the student must enter the program prior to his/her junior year. The audition is class style consisting of modern, ballet, jazz, and improvisation. Please contact theatre@psu.edu or refer to dance.psu.edu for information about auditions.
Music Performance (MUSIC)
MUSIC has an emphasis on performance. Entry to the minor is based on audition and on the space available in the applied area. Auditions are held annually in January and February. To schedule an audition, complete the online form. Because the courses are sequential, it generally takes three years to complete the music performance minor beginning with MUSIC 121 and131 (offered fall only).
Music Studies (MUSST)
Permission of theory faculty is required for acceptance into MUSIC 131 (and may require remedial work, such as MUSIC 008). No further audition is required for entrance to the program except for ensemble auditions (held the first week of each semester).
Music Technology (MUTEC)
Entry to MUTEC requires completion of INART 050 and INART 258 with grades of C or better.

Marine Sciences (MARSC)
To enter the minor, a student must have attained at least fourth-semester standing, completed CHEM 112, MATH 111 or MATH 141, and BIOL 110 or their equivalents (occasionally waived for students planning a less science-oriented route), and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.50. To complete the minor, students must complete 6 credits of marine science fieldwork. These courses have additional fees. Basic and/or advanced scuba certification is required for science diving courses. Students may elect to complete 16 of the 19 credits required for the minor through a study abroad opportunity at the National Oceanographic Centre, Southampton University, UK.
