Exploration

In any advising contact, it is important for the adviser to ascertain whether the student has decided on a particular curricular goal or is exploring one or more colleges, majors, or options. A student's exploratory status should be recorded using one of the explore codes listed below.

Explore (XP) Codes

YYes, the student is exploring one or more colleges, majors, and/or options

NNo, the student is not exploring and has decided on a specific major/option or concurrent majors/options, or is currently enrolled in a major and plans to continue in that major

TTerminal (the student has decided not to continue to enroll at Penn State); in most cases, a curricular goal does not need to be recorded for terminal students
