DUS Experience
- When did you enter DUS?
- Freshman year
- How many semesters did you spend in DUS?
- Two.
- Why did you choose DUS?
- I entered DUS upon admission to Penn State. I had an idea of what career path I wanted to take, but I wanted to be sure first.
- What resources did you use in your exploratory and decision-making process?
- I was chatting with a friend one day before math class and mentioned that I had an interest in environmental science and environmental education. She said I should look into environmental resource management and recreation and park management. I had absolutely no idea what they were but spoke to my DUS adviser, Linda Hapsmith, and was given a lot of helpful information like brochures and booklets to look over.
- Did DUS benefit you? If so, how?
- I was very happy with my DUS experience. When I first started, I told my parents that I wanted to major in marketing and international business and minor in German so I could travel to Germany and market my company's product. I failed an "easy" math class and decided immediately that business was not quite for me.
