Michele Peese
I grew up in Centre County, home of the Grange Fair, known as "A Family Tradition," a city within a town of campers and tenters who support and love agriculture. I originally came to Penn State for an education, and my goal was to teach agriculture. After two years I re-evaluated this plan and decided to take several years off from school. I obtained a position in the College of Agricultural Sciences' Short Course Office and then worked in Pattee Library for a short time before coming to work in the Division of Undergraduate Studies. I initially provided student records support for DUS and over time moved to my current position of FTCAP Office Manager/Program Assistant. My dream is still to complete my education, though rather than teach agriculture, I plan to obtain my degree in Organizational Leadership and continue working for the University.
My personal time involves my three sons: Blake, Burton, and Branston. I attend many sporting events, 4-H activities, and choral events and enjoy a strong involvement with our church family. I love crocheting, various types of needlework, and reading. Spending time with my family and friends is very important to me, as life is too short. My greatest passion is the quality time I am able to spend teaching my children how to live and love farm life—everything from showing small animals to working with draft horses.
I am proud to be a member of the DUS family and work with colleagues who share their knowledge and experience with students trying to figure out what to study and how to spend the next four years of their lives. I would be happy to share my story with any student in DUS who might be struggling academically or who is not sure what path to take.
