Natalie James
Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, my husband and I moved here in June 2007 to take positions at Penn State. After completing my bachelor's degree in English/language arts/elementary education, I was actually an elementary school teacher for two years in two different grades: second and fifth. While I enjoyed (and still love) working with young children, I had a number of leadership opportunities during my undergraduate career that shaped my dual love of guiding and teaching college students to discover their passions and strengths for future endeavors. Thus, I left the elementary education setting, went back and earned my master of education in college student affairs leadership, and jumped wholeheartedly into what I like to think of as a mix of my love of teaching and guiding college students: academic advising.
Outside of my role as a senior undergraduate studies adviser in DUS, I enjoy spending time with my husband, iTuning, watching lots of television, catching great movies, reading, cooking and finding new recipe creations, and shopping (especially at Target).
