I grew up in the Philadelphia area, and many summers were spent on family vacations at beaches along the Atlantic coast—Cape Cod, Maine, and New Jersey. This summer beach-going activity continues to be pivotal any time of the year. My two siblings and their families reside in New Jersey, and during visits I always find a way to head to the Ocean City Boardwalk to get my "fix" of sea air.
When I first came to Penn State some years ago, I fully expected to stay just a year to complete my master's degree. Now several decades later, working here still energizes and excites me. While I have had many different responsibilities in my years at the University, none of my positions has been as rewarding or as satisfying as the one I currently hold–working with Penn State students as they determine their individual paths through the University.
Engagement in service—to the University, my community, and professional groups—has been a hallmark of my career. For more than a decade I was a chairperson of the University Hearing Board, the body that considers student disciplinary cases. I also serve as a member of the First-Year Experience Steering Committee and Parents Program Committee. Previously I served as a chairperson of the Framework to Foster Diversity Review Team.
I enjoy biking, yoga, needlework, and always have a canine companion by my side. My real passion, however, can be found at the beach—walking, people-watching, building sand castles, gazing at the breaking waves and, of course, eating seafood!
