Seminar on Global Engagement through Academic Advising

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – On Friday, Nov. 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (EST), the Division of Undergraduate Studies will host "Fostering Student Global Engagement through Academic Advising," featuring a range of Penn State experts presenting a variety of individual sessions and panel discussions. The seminar will be available online and at no cost to interested faculty, staff, and students as well as to the public via live stream at http://wpsu.org/live on the day of the event. Following the seminar, an archived video will be available for viewing.
Keynote speaker Robert Crane, Ph.D., professor of geography and director of Penn State Alliance for Education, Science, Engineering, and Development in Africa will present "Understanding Globalization and Promoting Student Global Engagement." Sessions throughout the day will address Penn State's global landscape; bringing global issues into academic advising; the rise of global advising; special remarks by Michael Adewumi, Ph.D., vice provost for Global Programs; and closing comments by David Post, Ph.D., professor of comparative and international education.
The Division of Undergraduate Studies and Penn State World Campus are partnering with WPSU to live stream this event, which is made possible in part through a grant from the Bringing Theory to Practice Project in cooperation with the Association of American Colleges and Universities. Generous support for the event additionally comes from Penn State's Center for Global Studies and the World Campus. Seminar speakers will represent units and colleges across the University.
